Brian Grubbs, Managing Director

Mr. Grubbs serves as a quantitative specialist for Montague DeRose and Associates. He joined Montague DeRose and Associates in 2007 bringing fifteen years total experience in economic and financial analysis, process improvement, engineering, operations, planning, and execution. Mr. Grubbs' various responsibilities include quantitative and account support, including financial modeling for the firm's utility clients.

Prior to joining Montague DeRose and Associates, Mr. Grubbs worked for Navigant Consulting Inc. where he served as an energy consultant. Mr. Grubbs was the primary consultant to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) for the preparation of their annual $5 billion revenue requirement stemming from the California energy crisis of 2001. Mr. Grubbs also developed financial model and proformas to aid utilities in evaluation of bond financing for capital projects. This involved forecasting the financial outlook for the next 30 years through concise modeling of current and future residential and commercial load, and customer rate structure. Mr. Grubbs has also developed operational power plant models and models to track and account for long-term energy contracts. In addition, he has developed a database to analyze consumer meter usage and enable statistical placement of load profiling meters, at lowest cost.

Before Navigant, Mr. Grubbs was a Submarine Officer with the US Navy, where he led teams of sailors in the safe operations of a US Navy attack submarine, and its nuclear reactor power plant. Currently he is a Naval Reservist responsible for coordinating the annual and monthly training of a 30 person unit tasked with manning the command center of the US Pacific Fleet during planned exercises and real world crisis periods.

Mr. Grubbs received his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Economics, with Honors and with Distinction, from the United States Naval Academy.
